Reading & Writing
7 parts · 32 questions · 45 minutes
Signs, matching, gapped texts and a short message or story of 25+ words. Worth 50% of the total mark.
Listening
5 parts · 25 questions · about 30 minutes
Short conversations and monologues about everyday topics – each recording plays twice. Worth 25%.
Speaking
2 parts · 8–10 minutes · in pairs
Answering personal questions, then discussing pictures with your partner. Worth 25%.
Results use the Cambridge English Scale. Score 120 or above and you pass; 140+ (Grade A) shows B1-level ability.

Frequently asked questions
What score do I need to pass?
120 on the Cambridge English Scale (Grade C). 133+ is Grade B, 140+ is Grade A. If you score 100–119 you still receive a certificate showing A1-level English.
What is the difference between KET and KET for Schools?
Same format, same level, same certificate value – the for Schools version simply uses topics familiar to school-age candidates. Our tests work for both.
How long does it take to prepare?
From a solid A1, most learners need roughly 180–200 guided hours to reach A2. With regular practice, three to six months is a realistic target.
What comes after KET?
