How Our Materials Are Made and Checked
600+ free tests and lessons are only useful if you can trust every answer key. This page explains who writes All English 4U materials, how they are checked before and after publishing, and what to do if you ever find a mistake.
Original materials · layered checking · corrections welcomed
Who writes the materials
Every page on this site is written, adapted or reviewed by the site’s teacher – a Master’s-qualified English teacher and former university lecturer now living in Canada. Read more about the teacher.
Original items, official formats
Practice tests follow the official format of each exam – the same parts, question types, question counts and timing – but the questions themselves are written from scratch. We do not republish past papers: a test you may have already seen measures nothing, and exam boards’ papers are their copyright.
Grounded in the real syllabus
Vocabulary and grammar stay inside each exam’s published word lists and level descriptors (for example, the Cambridge YLE wordlists and CEFR level guides), so practice here transfers directly to the real exam.
How a test is checked before you see it
Every self-marking test goes through layered checks designed to catch the errors that matter most: wrong keys and ambiguous questions.
How marking works
Exercises and tests: instant, in your browser
Multiple choice, gap-fill, matching and dictation items are scored the moment you press Check, against the reviewed answer key. Nothing is sent anywhere; there is no account and no waiting.
Writing and Speaking
The IELTS Writing Examiner and Speaking Examiner will be assessed based on the official band descriptors, and every report is reviewed by the teacher before it is released. Scores are deliberately strict: when a script sits between two bands, we award the lower one, because an inflated band breaks your own study plan. See a sample report.
Corrections and updates
Exam changes are trackedWhen an exam board announces a format change, affected pages are updated and the change is noted. Formats shown always aim to match the current official specification.Updates
What this site does not do
No republishing of past papers or other copyrighted test content. No selling of your data – lessons and tests run without accounts. No inflated scores to make you feel good: a practice band you cannot repeat in the real exam helps nobody.
