Reading & Writing
It’s going to be sunny
Practise two Reading tasks from Unit 10 of Complete Key for Schools — a holiday-activities matching task (Part 2) and an open cloze holiday email (Part 6) — then write about your own future weekend plans. Instant auto-grading and a model answer.
Holiday activities
There are three short texts about a similar topic, and seven questions. Read what Marta, Amy and Clara did on holiday, then for each question choose the correct person: A Marta, B Amy or C Clara. The questions are not in the same order as the information in the texts.

For each question, choose the correct answer.
Complete the email
Read this email from Carol, who is on holiday, to her friend Sondra. Write one word for each gap. The words are mainly grammar words. Gap (0) is an example. Type your answer in each box, then Submit to check.
How(0) are you? I’m writing from the hotel room. We’re near the beach, but the weather is terrible! It started raining on (8) day we arrived, and it looks (9) it isn’t going to stop. (10) you hear about the storm we had last night? I thought the hotel was going to blow away!
Dad’s happy. He likes walking, and he isn’t worried (11) getting wet. But Mum isn’t enjoying herself at all. (12) wants to go home, and I agree. This isn’t fun!
(13) you still thinking about where to go on holiday? Take my advice. Don’t come here!
Love,
Carol
Write about your weekend plans
Unit 10 is all about the weather and the future (going to). Practise your writing by describing your plans for next weekend in 25 words or more. Then compare it with the model answer.
- What are you going to do next weekend?
- What do you think the weather is going to be like?
- Who are you going to be with, and where?
Model answer — 25+ words
Tip: use going to for future plans and predictions (I’m going to…, it’s going to be sunny) and weather words from the unit (sunny, warm, windy, rain).
