Paddington Bear
One day, over 60 years ago, an English writer called(0) Michael Bond went into a London shop to buy a present for his wife. There he 1(1) a small toy bear, sitting by himself, the last one 2(2) on the shelf. He brought the bear home and, because they lived near Paddington train station, he 3(3) to call him Paddington.
Later, Michael wrote a story about Paddington Bear, which became a book. That book 4(4) Michael Bond and his funny little bear very famous all over the world. Now there are very popular new films about the adventures of Paddington – and it isn’t 5(5) children who enjoy them. Paddington is lots of people’s 6(6) bear, young and old.
Write a story
In the A2 Key Writing test, Part 7 gives you three pictures that tell a story. You must write a short story of 35 words or more that shows what happens in the pictures. Write your story, then compare it with the model answer.



- Picture 1: Who are the two friends? What did they see? How did they feel?
- Picture 2: Where did they go? What was the problem?
- Picture 3: What did they decide to do instead? How did they feel at the end?

Tip: a good story uses past tenses (saw, arrived, decided, watched), links the three pictures in order, and describes how the people feel.
