Most adults do not need “more English” – they need the next right course. This path chains three grammar courses in CEFR order, adds dictation to fix listening and spelling, and uses B1 Preliminary tests as the checkpoint that proves the level.

Quick answers

How much time per week?

Four sessions of 25–30 minutes beat one long Sunday. At that pace, expect roughly 3–6 months per CEFR step depending on your starting point and consistency.

I studied English years ago. Where do I start?

Take the placement test rather than guessing. Most returning learners place at A2 and restart at Grammar in Use Intermediate unit 1 – the early units rebuild rusty foundations fast.

Is grammar really the priority?

For self-study, yes: it is the highest-leverage thing you can do alone, and every unit here forces production through exercises, not just recognition. Add dictation for listening, and speak wherever life lets you.
