Stage 1 · Know your target

Before training, find the CLB level your program asks for – requirements differ by immigration stream, study permit and profession, and they change. Check your program on the official IRCC site, then work backwards: each CELPIP level maps directly to a CLB level.

Confirm the CLB your program requires

Federal economic programs commonly sit around CLB 7–9; other streams differ. Get the number from IRCC or your consultant – it defines everything below.

Choose your test

CELPIP General and IELTS General Training are both widely accepted. CELPIP is computer-based with North American accents; if you prefer IELTS, the IELTS path covers it.

Stage 2 · Baseline

Stage 3 · Train all four skills

Thirteen practice sets, each with Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking in CELPIP format. Rotate skills across the week; repeat your weakest skill twice.

Stage 4 · Get feedback on production

Writing and Speaking are where self-study plateaus. Use the examiners – built for IELTS, but the criterion-level feedback on grammar, vocabulary, fluency and coherence transfers directly to CELPIP tasks.

Quick answers

CELPIP or IELTS General Training?

Both are accepted for the major programs. Pick CELPIP if you prefer one computer-based sitting and North American accents; pick IELTS if you may also need scores outside Canada. Train for one – the formats differ enough that split practice wastes time.

Are these official CELPIP materials?

No – they are original AllEnglish4U practice sets written in the CELPIP format (same sections, task types and timing), so the practice transfers while staying free.

How long to reach CLB 7+?

From solid B1: commonly 3–6 months of consistent four-skill work. From B2: often 6–10 weeks of format training and feedback. Below B1: do the adults path first.

Do you give immigration advice?

No – this is an English-training site. For requirements, deadlines and program rules, rely on IRCC and licensed consultants; we get your English to the score they name.
