1 Tier 1 – The Concept & Nuance: Periods of Duration vs Starting Points

Use for when mentioning the length/period of time. Use since when mentioning the exact starting moment in the past.

⏳ FOR (Period of Time)

📍 SINCE (Starting Point)

– since 8 o’clock, since Monday, since 12 May, since April, since 2015, since I was ten.

When did it start?	Past Simple (finished past moment): “When did it start raining? — It started at 1 o’clock.”

– Rule: Duration of time requires for, never since.
