1 Tier 1 – The Concept & Nuance: Inverting Continuous Verbs

To form questions in the present continuous, put am / is / are before the subject: Am/Is/Are + Subject + Verb-ing.

❓ Yes / No Questions
Are you feeling okay? — Yes, I’m fine.”
Is it raining? — No, it isn’t.”

What are you doing?”
Where is she going?”
Why are you wearing a heavy coat?”

2 Tier 2 – Short Answers in Continuous Aspect

In short answers, do NOT repeat the -ing verb:
“Are you leaving? — Yes, I am.” (NOT Yes, I am leaving).
“Is Tom studying? — No, he isn’t.”

Rule: Maintain the question inversion: What + are + you + doing?

Rule: The subject (your father) must go between the auxiliary is and the verb working.
