1 Tier 1 – The Concept & Nuance: Inverting Continuous Verbs
To form questions in the present continuous, put am / is / are before the subject: Am/Is/Are + Subject + Verb-ing.
– “Is it raining? — No, it isn’t.”
– “Where is she going?”
– “Why are you wearing a heavy coat?”
2 Tier 2 – Short Answers in Continuous Aspect
In short answers, do NOT repeat the -ing verb:
– “Are you leaving? — Yes, I am.” (NOT Yes, I am leaving).
– “Is Tom studying? — No, he isn’t.”
