Before you start: Look at each task and its example before listening. Notice clothing, actions, objects and positions in the pictures. Predict the kind of answer each gap needs. You will hear each part twice. Try the questions yourself before opening Show Answer or the transcripts.
Teacher tip: Allow time to preview each part. Ask learners to explain the spoken clue behind an answer, especially when a speaker changes a choice. For Part 5, check the position and colour of each scored object, then check the word on the sign separately. Learners select a colour and choose the matching outlined object.
Listening strategy
Before you listen
Study the people, objects and places first. Notice clothing, actions and positions. Predict whether each gap needs a name, number, day, place or object.
While you listen
Listen to the whole exchange before choosing. Speakers may suggest one idea and then change it. Words such as but, instead and actually can introduce the final decision. Match each object to its exact place.
After you listen
Check spellings, singular and plural forms, numbers and position words. In the final picture, locate the correct apple before checking its colour; follow the position clues and sign spelling exactly.
Show Answer reveals explanations without filling your answers or giving marks. Editing an answer clears the previous result. This is practice, not an official examination result.
