Learning guide

Level: A2.
Topic: The Windmill Workshop Open Day

Learning objectives

  • Listen for names, clothing and actions in a busy scene.
  • Understand practical details in an event-booking conversation.
  • Match speakers' preferences to gifts by listening for meaning and contrast.
  • Identify a detail from three picture choices.
  • Follow colour, location and spelling instructions in a detailed garden scene.

Before you start: A2 Flyers listening vocabulary for people, clothes, places, weather, food and everyday activities. Familiarity with spelling names and simple numbers, times and materials.

Teacher tip: Give learners time to inspect each picture before playing each part twice. Encourage them to notice corrections and final decisions. In Part 5, learners colour four existing discs and write one word; the blue example is not scored.

Listening strategy: Notice each child’s clothing, action and position before matching names. One name is not used. Predict the kind of information needed in each form gap. Listen to spelled surnames and corrected numbers. Match each child to the final gift choice, using the native A–H options. Listen to the whole picture conversation before choosing A, B or C. Locate each outlined disc before choosing its colour. Keep the blue example unchanged and write the requested word in its answer box. Show Answer supports review without filling answers or awarding marks. Submit again after editing, or reset for a fresh attempt.
