Learning guide

Level: A2 Flyers

Topic: The Puppet Workshop Open Day

Learning objectives:

  • Identify children in a busy workshop scene from clothing, actions and position.
  • Listen for spelled names, times, numbers and changed arrangements.
  • Match people to objects by listening for a final choice among alternatives.
  • Choose pictures after hearing speakers compare and confirm details.
  • Follow colour and position instructions, checking both the colours and the quantities in a group.

Before you start: Common craft-room words and everyday clothing vocabulary. Practice with names, times, positions and simple corrections in dialogue.

Teacher tip: Play each part twice. Give learners time to inspect the scene and picture options first. Encourage them to wait for the speakers' final choice when they correct an idea. Review the reasons after the listening attempt.

Listening strategy: Identify people with two clues, use the form headings to predict the missing information, and wait for corrected details and final choices. In Part 5, locate each lantern before colouring. Show Answer does not fill your attempt or award credit.

Great work!

Learning review

Use two clues for each person. Check the spelling and final collection time on the form. Match the item each speaker finally requests and wait for agreement in the show-planning conversations. For the lantern group, check both colour counts before submitting. Replay difficult parts and compare the transcript and explanations after your attempt.
