On Friday evening, Leo's family agreed to spend a weekend away from their screens. They wanted to make time for activities they often talked about but rarely tried. Leo put his tablet in a drawer, while his sister Nina switched off the television. Their parents left their phones nearby in case they needed to make a call.
On Saturday morning, the family walked to the market with a paper list. Leo helped choose tomatoes, and Nina picked a loaf of bread from a bakery stall. At home, they prepared lunch together. Leo took a recipe book from a shelf instead of looking online, and his father read the instructions aloud.
In the afternoon, rain changed their plan to visit the park. Nina suggested a board game, but Leo first complained that it sounded boring. After two rounds, he began trying different moves and asked for another game.
On Sunday, the family visited Aunt Rose by bus. Leo brought a notebook and sketched the old station clock while Nina talked with her aunt about a school play. During the ride home, their parents asked which parts of the weekend they would repeat. Leo chose cooking, while Nina liked the game. They decided they might plan another weekend like this, but they would adapt it to everyone's plans. Leo felt pleased that they had made deliberate choices about their time together.
