Use the simple past to talk about an event that finished before.
▸ Present: I study every day. · Past: I studied yesterday.
Make the negative with did not / didn’t + base verb.
▸ Past: I studied yesterday. · Negative: I did not study yesterday.
Regular verbs — add -ed:

| one syllable + vowel + consonant | double consonant + ed | stop → stopped |
