📚 Grammar Tip — The Present Continuous

Use the present continuous to describe what you are doing now. Form: be (am/is/are) + verb-ing.

▸ I am watching TV. · He is sleeping. · We are dancing. · They are doing homework.

Make the negative with not.

▸ I am not watching TV. · He is not sleeping. · We are not dancing.

Some verbs change spelling when becoming -ing:

Verb type Rule Examples
most verbs add -ing drink → drinking
end in consonant + e remove e, add -ing come → coming
vowel + consonant double consonant, add -ing sit → sitting
end in w, x, y add -ing fix → fixing
two vowels + consonant add -ing sleep → sleeping
